Estate planning: preparing for a necessary discussion

It might not be a conversation you feel ready to have, but it’s probably one of the most important you will have, both with your family and your financial advisor. Most of us are daunted by the task of planning for when we’re gone. Strong emotions get in the way. And there’s so much to consider, trying to ensure the well-being of our loved ones, financially and mentally, when we’ll no longer be around to do it firsthand.

Estate planning includes a number of things; it’s much more than just funeral arrangements and drafting a will. It’s about reducing the emotional stress your departing will leave your loved ones to deal with. A good estate plan should:

  • Remove the challenging decisions for your loved ones regarding your health, finances and final arrangements.
  • Eliminate uncertainty, conflict and in some cases litigation regarding your final wishes.
  • And of course, ease the handling and distribution of your assets.

Expert Estate Planning: Leaving a Lasting Legacy is an eBook that will walk you through estate planning. Please take the time to read it, and then give me a call and I can help guide you in putting together your own estate plan.
